Here we go for another game that should already be reviewed a few months ago. I was busy so I’m sorry. Anyway, this is the latest game for the James Bond saga, and it’s out for a long time now. It’s great to see that people are still making the series alive, through games and box-office films. My dad and I were fans of the series. Finally, here’s the most recent offering of the series to attract both fans and the younger generation.

Basically, James Bond games are purely action-packed games with intense storyline, all revolving in the game’s protagonist, James Bond. The main features include the car-chasing gameplay in some great scenes of the game, plus the appearance of Pop singer, Joss Stone.

If we talk about gameplay, Blood Stone uses a third-person shooting mechanism together with hand-to-hand combat which is a bit similar to earlier video game titles like Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Grand Theft Auto, etc. Although Blood Stone is not an open-world and is a linear game, you can still feel the influence of sandbox-style games such as Grand Theft Auto, Assassin’ Creed, throughout the game. Oh, and I told you it’s a linear game so please do not go anywhere in some points of the game, coz’ that’ll not work.

In anyway, I still love the car-chasing gameplay. It’s like they brought some Need For Speed elements. The good thing is that they’ve done well. I had fun playing them. They’re not too hard, and not even too easy. Although the car-chase was just for a few times, atleast it gave me much excitement and a shifting from the shooting genre of the game.

There are a number of weapons that can be used in the game, well just the same number as what Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune have. But the thing is, aside from these weaponry, you have vast amount of explosives during the game. Lots of explosive barrels are there, through out every scene, which is what makes it unrealistice-but-fun.

Graphics, you say? Well, as for me, I would like to praise it. I never thought that this James Bond game is almost as beautiful as Mafia II or the likes, atleast for the PC. It’s not the best out there, in fact, it’s ugly if you think about Physics and AI. There are some points in the game wherein your enemies are starting to move in a weird position. Now here’s what I’m talking about. Below is a screenshot of the AI and Physics problem. See the gun in there? It’s actually an enemy who got stuck by… I don’t know.

Well, that’s it. Eyecandy is there so just ignore the Physics and enjoy the beauty around.

Now when we talk about the story, one thing comes in mind. It’s a James Bond game. So I’m sure you now have an idea. We have James Bond and that grandma doing some mission in Athens after a celebration party. There, she meets the girl, Joss Stone. Started to know each other and eventually joined forces to do the rest of the missions while traveling around the world. That’s all. I don’t want to make spoilers tonight… and thank me for that. 🙂

By the way, I remember, here are some videos I took the time I played the game in my PC back some months ago:

As a conclusion, this game rocks. For about… 10-15 hours, you’ll feel excitement as the action-packed hero of the game, James Bond, take over your gaming life. 8.5

PlayStation® Home [March 28, 2011]

Last 28th of March, I decided to visit my avatar in PlayStation® Home, to check for new updates such as game spaces, new rewards and some other changes in PlayStation® Home (Asian/Hong Kong server). I used my primary asian account (ID: kenokenopi) and then proceeded to Harbour Studio (my own space).

So far, there are quite new rewards I owned. First, I’ve got a special KillZone 3 T-shirt and equipped it right away to my avatar. Also, there’s that fancy bottoms. Not sure what game it appeared, maybe TEKKEN? And some more goodies from LittleBigPlanet. Oh, and they’re completely a free reward. 🙂

I also decided to visit and create my avatar for PlayStation® Home (US server) using my US account (ID: kenokenopi_US). Unfortunately, it was offline at that moment. Maybe the US server is updating or something.

NEWS | Here comes Firefox 4!!!

Earlier this day, my web browser, Mozilla Firefox, looked something like this:

Firefox 3.6.16

Equipped with a custom SNSD Hoot persona, my own firefox 3.6.16 surely makes a win-win situation. What I like the most in computer applications are their ability to customize itself, provide great security and fast performance. Firefox might not be the fastest, yet I can claim it’s faster than IE, just behind this overrated Google Chrome.

March 22, the newest version of Firefox finally came out. The 4.0. So a few minutes ago, I decided to upgrade my 3.6.16 to the new 4.0 and enjoy the new redesigned interface and other exciting new features. After reading some documentation and some more info regarding the new firefox, I thought about my own personal settings. Finally it came out good. My own personal settings such as the Personas I am using throught the years can still be used. So, I started downloading and installing the new firefox 4.0 while eating something (jjampong, to be exact). To my surprise, it came out like this:

ff4

As you can see, it came out as good as what I did not expect. It’s not my first time using the 4.0, but I have tried using some Beta and release candidates over some months, and honestly speaking, I am not very satisfied. The first time I tried the Beta version, I got pissed of. The fact that Personas are still not working, and some more Add-ons and plug-ins are un-usable, in general, the Beta version is useless. So I stick to version 3.6. Finally, the guys from Mozilla made Personas and some other common plug-ins working in 4.0. Unfortunately, 2 of my plug-ins aren’t working. But anyway, with 4.0, I am very satisfied. Compared to IE9, I’m still gonna stick with Firefox.

Aside from bringing back Personas, the 4.0 is also equipped with a different interface, and as you can see,the Menu Bar has been removed, but instead, put them all in a single “Firefox” drop-down menu located in the upper left corner of the browser. On the other hand, 4.0 can now handle HTML5 written pages as well as an improved security engine. Here, you can see my own Firefox 4.0 browser in window mode:

ff4-window

I’ve been using the new 4.0 for… let’s say… 20 minutes. And as far as I can tell, I found some not-a-big-deal bugs. Well, as I have said, they’re no big deal, so you people shouldn’t take it too seriously. One thing is, during window mode, when I move the window, it’s not as smooth as the previous version, or atleast it’s not as smooth as a normal window. Well, it’s a bit annoying to see, but the fact that I’m always using my browser in fullscreen mode, I can guarantee that this issue is not a big deal. I’m not experiencing it anymore, good news. The second thing are the letters/fonts. It’s not that it’s ugly or what. It’s just different and I think it’s not normal. Maybe there’s some option to tweak these things. And somehow, I can’t tweak it. No option is available. Try clicking the picture above, you’ll see the texts aren’t as fine as it is before, and no, it’s not the ClearType issue, I have tried that solution and it still remains like that. I believe it’s a real bug, and I hope the dev team of Mozilla would work on it, coz’ so far, it’s the only annoying thing about Firefox 4. You wouldn’t want our eyes to get as bad as you grandma, do you?

All in all, Firefox 4.0 is the new masterpiece of Mozilla, and I agree with that. From top to bottom, from interface to security, it is indeed a masterpiece. So I recommend it to everyone. That’s all, goodnight 🙂

Storyline (Spoiler Warning):

Forbidden Love is a South-Korean TV series by KBS on 2004. Starring a huge cast of characters, Kim Tae Hee (Love Story in Harvard), Jo Hyun Jae, Jun Jin (from the K-Pop group Shinhwa), Uhm Tae Wong and Han Ye Seul. This KBS drama is based on the korean legend about the Nine Tailed Fox, or more commonly known as Gumiho. The drama is about the love story between childhood lovers Shi-yeon (Kim Tae Hee) and Min-woo (Jo Hyun Jae). During a family celebration, Shi-yeon and Min-woo’s parent were killed by assassins and Shi-yeon was taken by them. It was a secret cult made up of Nine Tailed Fox who took her and later on, trained her to become a responsible Gumiho warrior. These warriors’ duty is to protect their identity by killing other foxes from their race who disobey their rules (those who eat fresh human livers). The elite warriors consists of Shi-yeon, Moo-young (Jun Jin), Chae-yi (Han Ye Seul), Rang (Park Joon Suk), and Sa-joon (uhm Tae Wong). On top of them are 4 respected elders. Shi-yeon was indeed a Nine Tailed Fox, however, her family wants to stay away from the secret organization and live happily together with the humans.

Min-woo grew up and became a cop. He is also taking care of his younger sister Min-joo. During a mission, he discovered something related to these fox race and eventually, he was recruited together with his buddy, Inspector Moon, to a private investigative organization whose aim is to terminate and take revenge of the fox race. Shi-yeon, aside from being a gumiho warrior during nighttime, she also works as a full-time employee in a national history museum, also owned by the chief elder of the fox race. Min-woo and Shi-yeon met for the first time until they both fell in love with each other. Considering her real identity, Shi-yeon later on tried to stay away from Min-woo, however, after knowing that he is the guy from her pendant, her childhood lover, she cannot do anything but to fight for it. Later in the story, Min-woo will find out that Shi-yeon is really a Nine Tailed Fox. Because of his grudge that his parents as well as his friend’s parents were all killed by these fox race, he turned into a state of confusion. However, things changed and made it more complicated. After he saw Shi-yeon’s pendant, he saw himself and made everything in conflict. As both found out that they were the ones on each other’s pendants, all they can do is fight for it, even though it is hard. Unfortunately, two secrets were revealed in the story. One, Shi-yeon is the 1000th year old Nine Tailed Fox. Being the 1000th year old Nine Tailed Fox means she can finally end the curse of their race and they can live like humans do after sacrificing herself. Two, a specific sword can be used to defeat the entire fox race but can only be manipulated by the person whose born at the same day as the 1000th year old Nine Tailed Fox. Eventually, that person turned to be Kang Min-woo.

To make it worse, Moo-young’s mother, Chief Elder Shin, the elder with the highest position, have hidden motives. A secret regarding the 1000th year old Nine Tailed Fox was revealed. It was that the person who eats the liver of the 1000th year old Nine Tailed Fox will posses an eternal life. After knowing that, Moo-young, as a lover of Shi-yeon since the day she came in the fox race, his only option is to save both Min-woo and Shi-yeon.

During the ending, Shi-yeon chose to sacrifice herself rather than to give unlimited power to Chief Elder Shin. Kang Min-woo was left, alone, crying, after killing all o the fox race and being left by his only love, Shi-yeon.

Main Cast of Characters:

Kim Tae Hee as Yoon Shi-yeon
Jo Hyun Jae as Kang Min-woo
Jun Jin as Shin Moo-young
Han Ye Seul as Chae-yi
Park Joon Suk as Rang

Last Thoughts:

Yes, it is indeed an action-packed drama/romance TV series. All the cast and their respective roles did their very best, and the outcome is great. Honestly, the first time I saw this drama and the time it was broadcasted locally in my country through ABS-CBN, I always though that it was trying so hard and will definitely disappoint me because in my own point-of-view, dramas and action scenes cannot go on together. And that was just my first impression. I regret it now, and I would like to praise KBS for creating an epic-ly tragic drama like this. It is indeed a success, and now considered as a benchmark of later action-packed TV dramas like IRIS and its sequels. I enjoyed watching it. It made me laugh a bit because of Inspector Moon’s humorous role, cry because of that tragic love story of Shi-yeon and Min-woo, and excited because of those epic fight scenes. Even though it’s a 2004 drama already, I still recommend it to those looking for unique K-Dramas.

One important song titled Cherish That Person by BEAST’s Yoseob, is one of the tracks being played everytime dramatic scenes of Lee Seol (Kim Tae Hee) and Park Hae Young (Song Seung Hun) came up. All tracks are also listenable. Some are just instrumental tracks. Enjoy listening, and if you haven’t watched My Princess, then you’re missing 1% of your life.
